“Kallion!”
Mallie ducked her head out the backstage door, and her green eyes lit upon seeing him standing there anxiously.
“Mallie,” there was a tenderness to his tone and it brought back memories. It had been four years sense they had gone their own ways. The actress looked back to the other crew members and then she slipped out into the side hall of the Opera house. She was in an off white bellowing gown that she would be wearing as she played her role. There were more bows and lace on this dress then she would ever dare to wear otherwise. Her hands clasped behind her back and she rocked on her heels.
“What are you doing in Rimedur?”
“Well actually...We were already in the city and I saw one of the posters. How have you been Mallie?” Kallion was wearing his white robes which hid the bulk of his massive frame, but the angel wings ruffled behind his back. Mercury pink eyes watched her, his white/silver curled hair falling as he tilted his head, hands cupped before him.
“I’m...I’m happier now. I learned how to fight from Lady Lianna and Lord Jamie in Illander and I’ve been wandering the kingdom. I don’t think I’ll ever stop traveling; father was like this after all. A world traveling actor and I take after him.”
“Good,” Kallion stepped forward, “It’s so, so good to see you again Mallie. I can’t deny that I worried about you.”
A sheepish smile and Mallie shifted, “So did I Kallion, I worried about you too. You have a son now? Is he who you are here with?”
“I do have a son; his name is Panari, created as the Demi God of Truth and Compassion. I did fulfill my destiny Mallie but it was not to be feared. Panari grew quickly because of his godly nature and he is one of the sweetest people I have ever met; perhaps the message of Reinn Anon will be different now. Panari wants to spread compassion and understanding between the races. I am his paladin and travel with him to each town and village so he can give sermons. I have found my true purpose.”
Mallie took a step forward as well so they were just a few feet apart, “I think I will have to meet your son Kallion, when you speak of him you sound so tender.” Her head tilted as she examined her child hood crush who had become a strong but gentle man, “Are you still expected to remain alone by Reinn Anon?”
“No...Though I did retake my vow of chastity after Panari was born, as Panari is a descendent of Reinn and spreading the word of him, Reinn Anon allowed me to retake the vow. But if I find someone to stay with until the day I die then I can annul the vow,” Kallion shook his head to the girl who he had loved sense his youth with her black curls and snow white skin.
“But that isn’t why I came here,” Kallion took in a deep breath and giving a nervous smile he spoke again. “I love you, I will always love you. But I hurt you, and...Well, we hurt each other in that year. Two people who could not reconcile their past and had such self hate as we did... I’m glad to see you are happy Mallie Quele Ty’aro. You shine when you sing, and when you dance free. I was caging you, and I had no right to do that to something as wild and beautiful as you.”
The actress bit into her scarlet painted lip, “We did hurt each other but you were and will always remain my friend. I would love to meet your son and hear of his beliefs in Reinn Anon; I always wanted to understand your convictions Kallion so I could know whom I loved better. Stay for the Opera, I can get you in free,” Mallie put out her hands to Kallion as she began to shine like a golden star, illuminated from within by the joy of her soul.
“Then we can go see Panari together. Let bygones be bygones. Some people even madly in love can only ever hope to be just friends.”
Kallion’s larger sword worn hands grasped both of hers, “Alright,” which was followed by a cheeky smile.
“If I can get in free.”
“You’re always so cheap,” Mallie gripped his hands back and gave a tug heading toward the door to the backstage where she could take him to meet the Director. “Best behaviour.”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
