The Building is based on the Cologne Cathedral in Germany.
Meiva is the Goddess of Justice, Law and Balance.
Jharikk are a lawful, honorable humanoid race with steel fins out of their arms, back of their legs and down their spine. They are very religiously fervent toward Meiva and are a militaristic race; and their language is based off of German.
Meiva Eröffnung Gesang
Meiva’s Opening chant.
Over two hundred feet high, this cathedral dominates the capitol city of the Jharikk called Tabrimon. Built with stone and vaulting up toward the sky with buttresses, this cathedral is taller then the Royal castle in illander. The Baron’s keep is located next to this cathedral and at least twice a week the populace see Baron Reinhard and his family at prayer. Prayer among the Jharikk is chanting (Gregorian chant), and a straight path from the entrance of the building to it’s end is surrounded by hundreds of wooden pews. Thousands of people could fit into this cathedral easily and it is common for it to be absolutely filled in the evening for daily prayer after the shops and stores close. Every window is glass, and the main window at the back of the cathedral that is itself over fifty feet tall is stain glass with depictions of angels, female and male in battle regalia.
Meiva has a large statue before the stain glass window at the back, where everyone can see her, even from the entrance. The stone statue has a thick column bottom, and standing on that column is Meiva, a short appearing human woman in drab peasants dress and bare feet. In one open hand to her left she holds a leveled scale, and in her right she is grasping a longsword. Her arms are fairly muscled, and cloth is wrapped over half of her face, obscuring her nose and hiding her eyes, so she can not see as she is called ‚‘Blind Justice.’ On either side of her are two statues of her Arch Angels Omoriel, Archangel of Honor and Shashiel Archangel of Mercy, both muscled women with swords drawn and armored.
Along the outside walls within are basins of water, fonts with an etching below on the stone that depicts each of the other deities. Fourteen basins run along the outside walls, seven on one side, and seven on the other. Although this cathedral is Meiva’s homage is payed to each deity in turn by this small ornamentation, allowing outlet to the other deities without having to go to another specific temple or church.
The common practice is to cup hands within the water and drink from the basin after reciting a prayer to the particular diety. Each morning the Generalleutnant Sealac Theiss fills the basins with water he and the other priests have blessed. Drinking this water will heal some of a person’s wounds and gives them a refreshed, rejuvenated feeling. The ranks of the priests go by their military rank as never has a member of Meiva’s church not been in the military in some form or other, a good percentage of these members are also Jharikk. Humans and elves are welcome to her temple if they prove themselves upon the field of battle.
Sealac himself is a Jharikk, he wears his chain mail at all times, even during services, as Jharikk are prone to being battle ready at all times. He has black hair short cropped and blue eyes. He is well built, a stocky thick fellow who does not wear sleeves so as not to impede his steel fins which he uses in combat. He has a strong voice that carries well over the crowds, used to commanding men in battle; he is head of Meiva’s church, First Paladin of her order and second in command of the Jharikk armed forces.
